Happily ever after?

Friday, February 20th, 2009

You meet with the guy or gal that you wanted to spend the life with. After much understanding and courtship, you married in front of all your family members. Is life happily ever after? Much as we hope so but sadly not all couples can do that.

In fact, it is the start of a new life together, bearing in mind that communication has to be on-going constantly. We meet new people, new things every day, it changed our perspectives, believes and etc. Not only that, it is also a union of both families, different upbringing, different living habits to make it worse. With love, it can conquer all, without it, nothing get done. Not an easy task, but a lifelong on-going task.

Challenging? I think so, after a day work to face with more challenging task at home. It does get very frustrating at times. Then on special occasion thinking that it is your day off finally but to be faced with more challenges. Whose family to go out with, whose side of family to eat out with, given the fact that different family have different food preferences. So after many years, you thought you may have master the art to stay alive and still remain married but what happen next? Our life cycle throw you to another stage, you go through menopause, your physical state changed, so does your partner. You are short temper, impatient, irritable or worse unreasonable. Now, it seems you no longer like or can tolerate your partner because you are too engrossed in yourself over what is going on, you neglect him, argue with him constantly. Life seems unbearable…

However, have you forgotten how you first fall in love, got married, have your first child? Doesn’t love suppose to stand the time test? I am confused, just what happened? Can we live and grow old happily ever after? Or is it mission impossible?

Valentine Day

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

How did you spend your valentine day? For me, I feel that it is a must to celebrate but to what extent is up to individual. Of course, people say that every day is a valentine day but still to me, it is a day for appreciation. To appreciate your partner, to re-assure your love again, to bring back fond memories of how you get together and etc.

So how did I celebrate then? On friday, my hubby shown me the receipt that he paid for a 1 night Ritz-Carlton stay. Therefore, here we were on 14th Feb, 2pm at Ritz-Carlton waiting to be check into a room…

L.O.V.E Package
L - Lover’s bubble bath experience for the couple
O - One-night rendezvous in a Deluxe Kallang Bay View Room
V - Valentine’s breakfast for two in Greenhouse
E - Evening glass of champagne each in Chihuly Lounge

Verdict? I went to Beaufort, Fullerton Hotel before. This view in Ritz-Carlton is nice, very nice. The city view overlooking the expressway with traffic on-going… You are sitting on a couch facing the view in the night. It is like a big moving post card. As for the room, well, I should say is ok. Fullerton is better in terms of room and interior structure though. It is more luxury and grand. What about Beaufort? I will say it is a retreat out of city, relax, simple and still classic.

Lastly, thank you my Ang.

Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文)

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Sammi - My all - time favourite idol. Each time she appears on the cover page of a particular magazine, I will purchase a copy of it, irregardless of what other contents are in it. As a hardcore fan of hers, I took the pains to find out about the efforts she put into her work and all her productions. Over the years, it is difficult for her efforts to go unnoticed and I admire her for constantly trying to improve herself and for making new attempts. Which subsequently led me to think: Is it pure admiration of her as an idol or was it just a fantasy of pursing the kind of life she leads; which is very different from ours? What are the things that cause a person to admire another person? Through their achievements? Or mere superficial looks? For instance, by virtue of being a celebrity? I am not sure either…

Megamix

Anyway, here is an excerpt of her biography which I extracted from a magazine that I have just gotten recently; again for the obvious reason of wanting to know more about her or the thought of buying the magazine would not have crossed my mind at all.
